Stryker Hip Implant
Rejuvenate and ABG II
Summary by USRecalls.org
In 2012 Stryker Orthopedics issued a recalled of two of its hip implant systems- the Rejuvenate Modular and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems. The recall was initiated due to the discovery during "post-market surveillance " that the implants could deposit debris into the body which can lead to serious health complications. Since the recall on Rejuvenate and ABG II was issued many complications have been discovered including but not limited to an increased rate in Adverse Local Tissue Reaction (ALTR) and osteolysis/bone loss. Some studies following the recall have suggested links between the absorbed metal ions heart problems, spleen liver or kidney damage. This is not the first recall by Stryker though it has left many who were implanted with the units with various levels of health problems.
